Server Configuration   - Help Index

This panel is where you can configure the NetJetServer web server. There are various options that provide some control over the web server as described below.

The red circles on the picture above are described below.
  1. This is the Configuration Tab. Click on this tab at any time to return to this view.

  2. Registration area is used to enter your registration number provided by Renasoft when you purchase a license to use the product. After entering your registration number in the box provided, click on the "SAVE" button. This saves the registration number in the registry. Do not give this registration number out to anyone. This number also identifies your domain names with your web server. If someone gets this registration number and uses it, all of your domain traffic will go to that server and not yours. Click here for more information about licensing.

  3. These check boxes are described below by as they appear on the panel from top to bottom.

    • AutoStart, Causes the Server to start automatically when the computer starts up and a user logs on.
    • Enable Log, when checked the Operations panel display is updated real-time and showing activity. This doesn't take much overhead but if you wish for faster response you can uncheck this box and stop the logging.
    • Show News, when checked causes the server to open a Browser session showing the current Renasoft news when there is new news. Unchecked causes the server to ignore the new news.
    • Hide on Start up, causes the NJS to hide and become a tiny Icon in the task tray upon startup and when minimized. Works only when your a valid registered user.
    • Save Source, saves the source of the web pages in the "c:\temp\" folder. This is used when debugging a web page. Normal operations is to leave this box unchecked.

  4. Port box should show 80 by default. This is the standard web server port. If you wish to change this port then you need to stop and restart NJS from the operations panel. Changing this port may cause your web server to not work properly. If your domain name is managed by Renasoft then traffic should be automatically routed to your new port, otherwise it may be routed to port 80 and the server would not be listening on port 80 causing your visitors to be ignored.

  5. Restart time, This time specifies a time of the day in which your server will automatically restart itself. In most cases your server does not need periodic restarting. Your server can over accumulate resources such as memory for a variety of reasons, such as bugs in windows, windows scripting engine, or the Microsoft database access method and sometimes hackers trying to cause a denial of service. Under normal conditions you should not have to have a restart time, but if you do then set it for a convenient time of day when your visitors are not likely to be active. It usually only takes a few seconds to restart.

  6. Shows the Date and time of the next scheduled restart.
